Ablative Laser Treatments

Ablative lasers physically removal surface skin cells (MicroLaser Peel™) or penetrate deeper microscopic diameter holes within the skin (Profractional Laser™) to stimulate the deeper collagen which tightens the skin and can also smooth scars. Because of the nature of these lasers, some downtime is needed to allow the skin to heal. Most have social down time of at least 3-5 days, depending on the depth of the treatment.

MicroLaser Peel™

The MicroLaser Peel™ is an ablative, erbium laser that quickly removes the top layer of dull and damaged cells that can give skin a tired, aged look. As the skin heals, the newer, fresh skin cells grow and resurface the treated area. It rejuvenates the skin’s youthful appearance resulting in healthier-looking skin, reduced wrinkles and improved texture. The MicroLaser Peel™ provides superior results because it can be administered with great precision of depth. The procedure is performed by the physician and the depth of peel can be custom tailored to your specific skin conditions and desired outcome. Patients often say that it looks like their skin went from looking tired to vibrant. Laser peels are deeper than what is accomplished with microderms, dermaplane and some chemical peels.

  • Duration of results: Permanent, but intermittent treatments are recommended for accumulative results
  • Most common side effect: Redness
  • Discomfort level: Mild and temporary (topical numbing medication is used for deeper peels)

*There is social downtime post-laser treatment depending on the depth of the peel. Aquaphor is kept on the face for 48 hrs after the treatment and redness lasts an average of 3-7 days.

Profractional Laser™

For facial tightening and scars

ProFractional uses a tiny laser beam to treat thousands of pinpoint areas of your skin. Because only a fraction of your skin is directly treated with the laser, the surrounding untreated tissue promotes rapid healing. This skin’s wound healing response creates new collagen which adds firmness and resilience to the skin. The pinpoint laser beams essentially creates deep channels within the skin to stimulate collagen (see histology image below). As these channels close during the healing process, overall facial tightening is achieved. This is also an excellent treatment for scars. The deep channels and collagen stimulation help soften scars and crevasses.

The Profractional laser beam creates thousands of microscopic channels within the skin and deep into the dermis. As the edges come together during the healing process, the skin tightens and the collagen stimulation firms up the skin.

  • Duration of results: Permanent, but intermittent treatments are recommended for accumulative results
  • Most common side effect: Redness and pinpoint bleeding is expected
  • Discomfort level: Mild to moderate and temporary (topical numbing medication is used)

*Post-laser treatment social downtime is expected with redness and pinpoint bleeding. Aquaphor is kept on the face for 48 hrs after the treatment and redness lasts an average of 3-7 days depending on the depth of the Profractional.
